The weather stewards completely dropped the ball for the 2003 Rim of the World SCCA ProRally in Palmdale, California, but despite the fact the normally dry and dusty rally suffered from two days of steady rain the StudBug had a commanding lead leaving the Del Sur quagmire with one stage left to run. Then the unthinkable occurred - a fuel injector malfunctioned, leaned out the #4 cylinder and the resulting burned piston kept the car from climbing a hill that separated us from completing the final 8 miles of the event.
